5 Myths About Professional Moving Services

In this blog entry, the expert packing and moving team here at Noah’s Ark Moving and Storage will describe the 5 main myths and misconceptions about moving and professional moving service.

All Moving Companies are Similar

Service quality, pricing, timing, availability, and experience vary wildly between different moving services. Some moving companies specialize in local moves, some specialize in long distance moves, and some expert moving companies, like us here at Noah’s Ark Moving and Storage, specialize in both. It’s a good idea to research any professional moving company before working with them.

Weekends are the Only Good Moving Time

Many people believe that Friday is the best day to move, as they can unpack over the weekend. Because most people think this, however, traffic is way worse on Fridays, and many moving companies are booked. We recommend a weekday move – ideally scheduled as far in advance as possible.

All Moving Boxes and Tape are the Same

Tape and boxes differ wildly. Duct tape and masking tape can’t hold a candle to packing tape, which is designed to work ideally with cardboard, and doesn’t leave any sticky residue on your furniture. Packing tape is easily held together, is flexible, and can stay together under great pressure. This is similar to moving boxes – they can hold together under a ton of weight, and are far superior to regular cardboard boxes for the packing and moving process.

Items Always Break in Moves

Some people think that items ALWAYS break or go missing during a move. This is surely a low bar! Professional moving companies with a well implemented moving process won’t make this an issue – even though accidents can sometimes happen, that’s what moving insurance is for!

All Moves are Messy

Many people think all moves are chaotic and messy – but this is far from the case. While moving anxiety is common, usually due simply to the inherent change and transition of a move, a professional moving team can easily quell this anxiety, and ensure that your boxes are categorized, organized, and kept in / transported to their designated spaces.
