  • Inform the United States Postal Service of your move. They have made life easier by having an online form.
  • Also notify your change of address with your family and friends, Bank, Credit Card companies, Insurance Companies, Employers (w2 forms), Magazine and Newspapers, doctor or other providers
  • Having high valuable items have them appraise, document them and upload the images onto the computer. Remember to make backups of all computer files either on a CD or USB flash drive.

    • Boxes (various sizes; wardrobe boxes)
    • Labels
    • Box cutters

Three weeks before moving

If driving, have your car serviced before the trip or prepare a car rental service. If your car is being moved, be prepared to drive it to, and pick it up from a proper loading site

  • Inform your Noah's Ark movers of any changes in your original moving plan such as additions of subtractions of items, changes in dates, extra stops (aside from the main pick up and drop off points) on moving day.
  • Begin packing the most infrequently used items in the most infrequently used rooms first, for example holiday decorations in the attic or basement, or old books and blankets in the closet or storage rooms.
  • For easy organizing, assign a colored sticky to each room. Mark boxes and furniture with the appropriately colored stickers.
  • Make sure to clearly label and number each box! Keep a master list with the contents of each box.
  • No one wants to walk into a brand new, but dirty house. Arrange for a cleaning company or clean the new location before delivery day.
  • Make family travel plans if you will arrive at your new location before it is ready. Reserve hotel rooms and airline tickets as needed

Two weeks before moving

  • If moving with the family, have them say goodbye to friends, and relatives. Having a fare-well gathering in one place will be a great idea for you and the kids.

  • Check items off the inventory list as they are loaded and unloaded.

  • We suggest having a floors plan or a sketch of where you want your furniture or items to be place. If not each piece of furniture will be unloaded and placed at your command; however, appliances/fixtures will not be set up. This service can be arranged, but there will be an extra charge.
  • Check your household items to report any damaged or lost items. Note any discrepancies on both the movers and your personal inventory lists.
  • To prevent potential damage, major appliances should not be used for 24 hours after delivery, allowing them time to adjust to room temperature.
