To Move or Not to Move

to move or not to move

Changing careers isn’t easy, especially if your relocating over a sizable distance in your state, or one outside your state. From our experience, we’ve gathered a few suggestions which may aid you in your decision to move or not to move.

Payment for Relocation

Payment for an expected or unexpected relocation can be expensive and stressful. Especially if you lose money on enrolled schools, or existing local contracts. Less and less employers are reimbursing potential employees for their decision to unearth themselves and start anew. Keep these things in mind to make sure you come out with your needs intact:

Will my future employer cover any relocation costs?

  • What relocation costs will or will not be covered and why?
  • Is it possible to negotiate my terms of relocation?

Environment

Often times parents who relocate will research school districts, but will not often look into the placement of schools and if their new residence is within that particular school district. This goes the same for places of recreation. If hiking and outdoor swimming are important to you, make certain the place you relocate can offer some of the hobbies you maintain outside of your work life.

  • Do the local school systems uphold to your standards and are they accessible?
  • Are there recreational areas, or places that maintain hobbies which provide you with a higher quality of life?
  • What do the natural resources appear to be like? i.e. Where is the local water sourced from? What are the environmental conditions which may or may not influence the quality of life?

Family and Friends

Wherever you’re moving, it’s important that you have a support system. Not only is this important for you, but it’s important for those who may or may not be dependent on your decisions. Social and emotional situations are important.

Have you considered?

  • Friends and family you may be leaving behind.
  • People of a certain age that are reliant on your proximity.
  • Do you, or does anyone inside your family know people in the place of relocation?

Crime

When moving to a new place it’s important that you know about the crime in that particular area. Being prepared for crime-related circumstances is imperative to preventing crime. If you go into an environment blindly unaware that you’re wearing the wrong clothing or looking in the wrong direction you could put yourself and others at risk. Check up on the following:

  • What kind of crime is predominant in the area?
  • Is there a neighbor on a watch-list?
  • How is crime currently prevented in the area?
  • What is being done to prevent future crime in the community?
  • What measures can you take to protect yourself?

In the end your decision is based on logic and intuition. Seems easier said than done. But, whatever the case, we trust in your well being. If you’ve gone with Noah’s Ark Moving you’re moving in the right direction.
