Office Moving – Disassembling and Reassembling Furniture With Ease

Office Moving – Disassembling and Reassembling Furniture With Ease

Office moving already comes with its own challenges, such as getting the phones and all of the electronic equipment back up and running.  Putting your furniture and other items together in the first place might have seemed like a challenge. Yet, when it comes time to disassemble those same pieces and set them back up in a new space, many things can complicate the process.  But take heart.  There are things you can do to make the process of disassembling your items and reassembling them after a move much easier.

Most of the furniture and other items that will need to be disassembled in your office before moving day consist of desks, conference tables, coffee tables, sofas and partitions.  For tables, you can remove the legs and secure them together with bungee cords, ropes or anything that will keep them from getting separated during the move.  This will also make them easier to carry.  If possible, remove all protrusions from furniture, such as handles, poles or anything that can break off, take up unnecessary space or cause injury during the office moving process.  But be sure to keep all attachments with the piece of furniture to which it belongs.

When disassembling office furniture for moving, also place the screws in small, clear bags such as sandwich bags.  Trying to match up the right screws with the right pieces of furniture later can be very frustrating.  To make it more convenient to locate screws, you can then tape the little bags securely to the underside of the furniture that they came from.  Sometimes it may be difficult to break down a piece of furniture.  One thing to watch out for when this happens is to never wrench the legs out of desks, chairs, coffee tables or other furniture. If you do this, the legs may not fit back in again securely when you try to reassemble them at the end of the office moving process. Also, use the right size screwdrivers when removing screws, so that you don’t run the risk of broadening or damaging their holes.  Doing it right can save you the cost of having to hire people to repair your furniture afterwards, or having to replace pieces.
