Staying Cool during a Summer Move

Staying Cool during a Summer Move

If you’re planning a Summer move of your home or office, you might be apprehensive about the heat and humidity affecting the quality of your packing and moving experience. While you can always lean back on the courteous expertise of the Tri-State area moving experts at Noah’s Ark Moving and Storage to help take care of every aspect of your moving process, making it super easy and pleasant, we still wanted to provide you with some essential Summer moving tips on how to handle the heat and make your move as easy as possible.

Remember to Drink Water

Staying hydrated is incredibly important. You’re going to need more water than you usually drink due to the Summer heat and the exertion of the move. Drink at least 5 ounces of fluids every 15-2 minutes – drinks with electrolytes are a good choice, but avoid energy drinks as these can dehydrate you, Make sure to eat food like fruits, vegetables, healthy protein, and legumes- and stay away from alcohol and caffeine.

Turn on Electricity

Try to keep electricity on in your new home until the day after you move in, and have it turned on before you move in. This will ensure that you will be able to set up your air conditioner first and use it during the unloading and unpacking process. If you don’t have an air conditioner or don’t want to set it up first thing, buy a bunch of fans.

Wear the Right Clothes

Wear light colored and lightweight T shirt and shorts, which will help reduce the heat and exertion. If it’s incredibly hot, put a cloth in cold water and put it over your shoulders, which will help lower your body temperature.

Remember to Relax

Take breaks periodically! You may want to complete the move as soon as possible, but it’s not worth heat stroke. Try to find a cool spot to take a short break every now and then, and see if you can conduct the heaviest part of the move early in the morning or late in the day when it’s cooler.

SPF SPF SPF

If you’re working outside, make sure to wear an SPF sunscreen. Apply it over all exposed skin, and re-apply it every 120 minutes or more often than that if you’re sweating alot. Try wearing a lightweight hat to provide shade and stop your scalp from getting a sunburn.

Hire a Professional Moving Team

This will help reduce 100% of the stress of moving. Just relax and do something fun of your choice while professional movers handle all of the work. The team at Noah’s Ark are trained to work in super hot weather, and are professionals at doing so, finishing the move way quicker than you’d be able to by yourself or even with the help of your friends.
