College Dorm Moving Tips

Ship Items to your School
If you’re not going to be driving to your school, consider shipping belongings straight to the school, primarily bulky belongings like furniture. Many moving companies have services that allow you to rent part of a moving truck to ship your items as part of a larger cargo shipment, but these only have specific windows. You could also order items online from a nearby store for local pickup for when you arrive to your location.
Bring Tools
You may need to install furniture or make adjustments to furniture that’s already in place at your college dorm. Bring pliers, a hammer, and a series of screwdrivers, as well as duct tape and sticky tack for hanging stuff up or taping it back.
Work with Roommates
Try to contact your roommates ahead of schedule so that you won’t arrive at the same time. This will make the move in process much much easier for both of you. You can even coordinate in advance which roommate will bring items like a mini fridge or television before you start packing.
