Guide to Coast to Coast Moving

Coast to coast moving is never easy, and is pretty much the hardest type of move short of inter-country moving. No matter which area you’re moving to, the best way that you can make your move easy is by following Noah’s Ark’s expert moving tips, and also choosing them to handle your move. Here’s our guide to coast to coast moves.

  • Coast to coast moving can be expensive, so it’s important that you do everything that you can to limit your costs. There’s not one single thing to do, so make sure to work with affordable movers, consolidate your belongings into just what you need ,and pack by yourself if you can.
  • Make sure to pad all your items with strong boxes, bubble wrap, and paper.
  • Pack by yourself if you can, but if you’re moving lots of items or delicate objects you might be best served by working with professional packers who know how to package and transport heavy or delicate items like pianos or antiques better.
  • You might want to leave your items in the hands of dedicated movers while flying across country yourself with an overnight bag, for a much easier trip.

Price of Moving

  • Make sure to always ask for an on site price estimate from any moving company you’re planning on working with.
  • If the company gives you a quote lower than any other quote you’ve received, ask them for the reason for the low price to determine if it’s a real quote, or a fake low-ball quote.
  • Is the cost estimate way higher than those you’ve found? Ask the mover if they will set the price as halfway between their quote and others that you have found.
  • Are they including additional services? Do you want these services, or are they tacked on? If you can limit any of the costs by, for example, providing all shipping materials yourself, then maybe do that.
  • The visit to your home will allow any moving company to fully decide what the best strategy for your move should be, and if any items warrant special packing or packaging.
  • Ask a few of the top rated companies for their binding estimates – however, we highly stress and truly believe that our experts at Noah’s Ark are the very best in the industry.
  • Keep in mind that moving distance is an element that price is reflected on, so if you’re traveling three-thousand miles across the country, the price will be higher than if you’re moving to the next town over.
  • If you lower the amount of stuff that the movers transport, you can really lower the shipping weight, and thus, the overall price of the move.
  • Any reputable mover will include additional services that can really help you out if you need to – including packing, furniture disassembly and reassembly, hoisting, and even storage.
