Budget Holiday Party Tips

Gift shopping may have eaten into your budget, however this doesn’t mean that you can’t throw an excellent holiday party! It just takes a bit of practical maneuvering and planning to create a fantastic party that won’t break the bank. Here are Noah’s Arks’ amazing ways to throw a holiday party on a budget.

Fun Food Displays

Consider making creative food and beverage displays that blend into your party’s festive theme. Put veggie crudites in votive candleholders that guests can pick up and carry. Use candy canes as beverage stirrers, and wrap red ribbon around holiday cookies for a themed flair.

Ditch giant meals

Consider having a potluck party where every guests brings a libation or treat of their own. Consider also throwing a cocktail or dessert party rather than an elaborate dinner party. Make a holiday punch for the party to get rid of the need to buy a fully stocked bar (candy cane drinks are always a winner.) Consider also making a champagne cocktail rather than plain champagne, as it can stretch out the use of each bottle.

Don’t use paper plates

Paper plates are simultaneously more expensive and look cheaper. Use all your real plates – it doesn’t matter if they don’t match – but they do add class to the holiday party, along with actual cloth napkins. This helps take normal aspects of the  home and provide a large visual impact that highlights the sumptuous and festive nature of the event itself.

Use natural, free decorations

Use clippings from evergreen trees to create a centerpiece or wreath. Use real fruit – like apples, pears, or even pineapples, as a natural (and edible display,) and spray paint pinecones gold for a festive and fun decoration. There’s tons of free and easy to come by items that can be easily transformed into a magical holiday party decoration – keep your eyes open, and keep an imaginative spirit while you’re brainstorming.

Utilize candles and smell

There’s nothing that beats the ambience of a candlelit party. Buy cheap candle votives at the dollar store, and fill your home with them (making sure they are in safe areas.) You can also turn glasses upside down to contain candles – they really look great when in groups of varying height – and you can pack them with sand or rocks to hold candles in place. For a scented aspect to the party, simply allow cinnamon, apple cider, and cloves to slowly simmer away in a pot on your stove to fill your home with a festive warm scent.
