Living Tight, A Storage Story

Living Tight, A Storage Story

As I sit in the classic apartment that will harbor my New York life, recalling last week and my arrival on the isle of Manhattan, I think of crossing the threshold into my new, quaint apartment.  I remember my first thought; “how is all of my stuff going to fit in here?  Where is my baby grand going to go?!”  Now with a laugh at my first-reaction of shock, being accustomed to the wide flat spaces in the California sunshine, I reflect on my great epiphanies; finding storage is an absolute necessity in New York City, and moving doesn’t have to be such a stressful experience.

I had never been to New York before my big move.  I found my apartment online and of course, the pictures made the flat seem much more spacious than it is in actuality; I’m not the best at visualizing written spatial dimensions either.  Needless to say, when I arrived at my new apartment downtown and saw that it had all the charm of a ju dour tenement of the Great Depression, my mind went racing, trying to figure out how to organize my furniture, instruments and artwork into a 450 square foot apartment.  No easy task, but nothing some simple planning and designs couldn’t cure.  Luckily, my movers, from Noah’s Ark Moving Company in NYC reminded me of their storage service when they finished moving me in.  I guess they understood my tight situation.  I had researched moving companies when I was back in California and I have to chalk it up to fate that I found such a reliable and helpful moving company from all the way across the country, and it was a major plus that they have a reputable and secure storage service.  I was so skeptical of New York City moving companies, so afraid of getting ripped off, that I only considered the companies that got a rating of A+ with the BBB and specialized in piano moving, and because Noah’s Ark  fully qualified and offered testimonials regarding their service I made my decision.  Truthfully, it was the piano moving service and the artwork moving service that convinced me to choose Noah’s Ark Moving, as I have a Steinway & Sons baby grand piano, two guitars, and several paintings and sculptures that are quite valuable and would be ruined if not transferred correctly.  It’s already hard enough to move the piano into another room; I just couldn’t trust any moving company to move ‘my baby.’

As I sit in my now lovely and organized boudoir, across from my music corner where my chestnut piano stands underneath hanging guitar stands and surrounded by paintings, I realize that my moving company, Noah’s Ark Moving and Storage, is responsible for my quick settling in and comfort.  They helped me pack, unpack, and set up my things; they gave me the idea for renting storage space because a papasan chair, bed, and piano could never fit into this apartment at once.  The company gave me a reasonable price and the movers were courteous and professional every step of the moving process.  I would recommend Noah’s Ark Moving to anyone moving, especially to those moving instruments or artwork.  My items were picked up and delivered in the same condition, they suggested storing some of my things, and were very helpful moving all of my belongings into storage.  They were truly amazing, moving was actually a pleasant experience.
