November Weekend Getaways

November Weekend Getaways

Looking for a weekend getaway from NYC? Many of us can get tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, and search for a temporary idyllic escape just to decompress. Don’t worry – we’ll always love NYC, and will be excited to return at Weekend’s end, but for a quick journey, these trips can offer the perfect chance to relax. And the good news, is that they’re super local! Check out our choices for the best NYC weekend escapes.

Beacon, NY

These historic mountains offers artistic community and culture known throughout the region. Check out Dia:Beacon, an art collection with holdings that range from the 1960s to contemporary work, with work from artists such as Louise Bourgeois and Dan Flavin. Guided tours are free with admission. Consider staying at the Swann Inn of Beacon, a beautiful bed and breakfast with a series of amazingly decorated, unique, retro rooms.

New Hope, PA

This beautiful region of Buck’s County is full of small clothing boutiques, local-focused restaurants, and as many bed and breakfasts as you can count. We recommend bringing along a bike and traveling down the beautiful path alongside the Delaware canal. Check out the Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve for a beautiful taste of nature.

New Paltz, NY

This historic area boasts homes over 100 years old, inside the National Historic Landmark District, where you can tour 1700s homes and churches. We recommend staying at the beautiful Mohonk Mountain House, an elegant hunting lodge type hotel with beautiful wood paneling – and even private cottages! Anyone staying at one of their suites is allowed to enjoy their wide range of outdoor amenities, like boating and hiking, and even amazing meals in their private dining room!

Cooperstown, NY

Cooperstown is known for it’s Baseball Hall of Fame – a must stop for every MLB or sports fan. Cooperstown is also known for it’s wide range of beer brewery – at one point it was the hops growing capital of the United States! Check out Brewery Ommegang – on a 135 acre hops farm, it offers free tours (and cheap tastings!) of more beer than you can drink. Check out the Otesaga hotel, which recently celebrated its 106th anniversary – with many outdoor amenities – and for the brave of heart, go ghost hunting (the old hotel is known to be populated with ghosts!)
