Tips for Efficiently Labeling Moving Boxes
Moving to a brand new home can be an extremely disorganized and crazy process. However, regardless of the disorganized and chaotic aspects of moving, you can have a pleasant move simply by putting in some organizational work beforehand. One way that you can do this is implement a labeling system for your cardboard boxes. This is a fantastic tactic to keep not only your packing and move, but unpacking too, a uniform and pleasant process. Label Effectively
The most important thing that you need in order to effectively label all your moving boxes is permanent markers that can smartly label all your containers. Make sure that you buy quality markers in a selection of different colors (for effective color coding.) Ensure that whatever markers you purchase are permanent and waterproof, so you can avoid smudging or rubbing off.

Color Coding
Simply choose a color to correspond with a room in your home, and label all the boxes destined for that room with a label in that color. If you choose the color green to mean Kitchen, label the contents of the boxes and their corresponding room with a green marker – on the box. Make sure to use colored tape to seal the boxes, for an even simpler identification process. Just make sure that your movers can understand your color coding system – you can easily do this by placing a large swatch of colored tape on the door of the rooms that the boxes are meant for.
Number Coding
Numerical labeling system will require you to assign a specific number for each container, and create a larger master inventory in which the contents of each box will be detailed. If box number 2, for example, contains bathroom toiletries, you will write them down in your master inventory against number 2, and write #2 and Kitchen on all the sides of the box. This way, they can deliver the box to the correct room while knowing what’s inside it, so they can know how to safely transport and unload it. Just make sure to make copies of the master inventory checklist, and consider emailing it to yourself as a simple backup.
Be Careful when Labeling
There’s no strict rules on how you need to label the moving boxes in your home; it really comes down to your personal preferences. However, these are the absolute best tips you can follow. Choose your personal labeling system, and make sure to label the sides and tops of the boxes, so their labels are visible even when they are stacked together. Make sure to place clear packing tape over the labels so they don’t fall off or become illegible if they get smeared or wet during the moving process.
