Single And Thinking About Moving

Are you single, young, and thinking about moving?  Then you totally should.  We’re only young for a set amount of time before we have to start planting down our roots, figuring out our future, and settling down for the rest of our lives.  Why not take the chance while you’re free to live wherever you want?

So what are the most important things to consider if you are single and ready to move?

Job Opportunities

Having work is always important.  If you don’t have money, you can’t pay.  Check around for listings in your prospective town.  They don’t have to be great jobs.  After all, you may just move again in a year or two.  Just something to make sure you’ll survive and pass the days with relative comfort.  With search engines nowadays and the existence of the internet, it’s easy to see what jobs are available.

Nightlife

Being young and single means no strings attached.  You can go out and have fun and not worry about it the next day (unless you have work).  If you are looking into towns and cities, make sure they actually have a nightlife.  In some places, everything closes at 9pm.  You don’t want to be stuck in one of those towns, ready to have fun only to find out that nothing is open.  “Downtown” areas in cities are almost always guaranteed to have more nightlife than the rest of the city.

Culture

There’s no point in living somewhere boring when what you want is excitement.  Culture is a huge part of how much you’ll enjoy the place.  Look at cities with a lot of colleges.  The abundance of university students is usually indicative about the local culture.  Find places with museums and stadiums and concert halls.  That way, you’ll never be bored and you’ll always have an opportunity to meet someone new.

According to CNN, the top 10 places for the rich and single to live are:

  1. University Park, TX
  2. Garden City, NY
  3. Concord, MA
  4. Manhattan Beach, CA
  5. Port Washington, NY
  6. Falls Church, VA
  7. Tenafly, NJ
  8. Huntington, NY
  9. Olney, MD
  10. Stony Brook, NY
